BoA Tells Us About Emptiness Which Is A Mood

BoA returns with a new single called Emptiness.

My favourite is back! I love BoA so much and I was so excited when she announced she is dropping new music – she’s always trying something new but staying true to her style which is what I appreciate the most. I wasn’t sure if Emptiness would lean more into a ballad-like sound or would BoA still keep her recognizable energy in the song but I’m excited to check it out and see for myself. Let’s listen to Emptiness and review BoA’s newest release.

Emptiness is much more melodic than I expected. It’s carrying a very catchy groove, especially during its chorus, and it’s definitely something that suits BoA a lot. This is the style she does flawlessly and I’m loving Emptiness even on the first listen. The verses are very solid, slower but obviously building up to something more energetic – the chorus which is absolutely the highlight of the song. It’s such a good and clean hook, getting stuck in your head after the first listen. It’s laid-back but still groovy and has this specific BoA energy to it that I’m really liking. The song is also a great length which is a rarity these days and I’m so happy about it. BoA also looks absolutely stunning and I think this music video really fits the song and its message and atmosphere. Definitely one of my favourite March releases by far!

So happy to have new BoA music because she always comes through with something great.

Mother has returned with my new depression anthem I think because now that’s a song title that I can relate to on an emotional level. But for real now I am mega excited to see BoA return musically finally it’s been a while since she gave us new music. I am a bit sad it is only in the form of a single but we will take what we can get am I right? BoA looked absolutely stunning in the concept pictures for this and the song also sounded a bit more upbeat than the title alludes to so let’s review.

Emptiness is very much a BoA song and the woman is carrying it completely with her vocals. The verses are groovy yet a bit lowkey and on the “slower” side. The build up to the chorus is very solid and catchy, the vocals here are insane. While the chorus itself is a bit more mellow and lowkey I think it works for the message and theme of the song. Emptiness lives from BoA performing it, her vocal tone her groove and experience all carry through Emptiness and make the song more than it is if it was performed by someone else. She made this song her own and gave me another cry song while I groove in sad. I like it.

With so many idols fleeing SM I wonder if BoA will stay with SM or not I feel like that would shift the industry.
