Weeekly Make A Summery Comeback With "LIGHTS ON"

WEEEKLY is back with 6th mini album Bliss and title song Lights On.

Weeekly dropped one of my favourite 2023 albums last year and I’m still salty the whole release was so slept on – so many incredible songs on that album including the one that ended up finding its way to my top 23 list – the ever-so-amazing Backwards. The group really leaned into this fresh pop sound that brings a dreamy atmosphere with it and I’m so happy to see that they are continuing that style this comeback as well. I’ve really loved their 2023 output so it seems that 2024 will also bring great Weeekly music with it. Let’s see what LIGHTS ON has to give us this warm Tuesday and review the new mini album together!

LIGHTS ON is so cute! It’s refreshing, dreamy, summery, and perfect for Weeekly and their vocals. It really brings such a fun and upbeat energy from the very beginning and puts you in a good mood immediately. From the cute summer-infused verses to the catchy and fully fleshed-out chorus with a great hook, LIGHTS ON really brings out the best in Weeekly this summer! I also absolutely love the music video and it compliments the song so much as it combines both the summer aesthetic and this dreamy, princess-like pastel visual I’m obsessed with. However, my favorite set has to be the blue one as it really looks like a fairytale kind of concept. So pretty! LIGHTS ON is honestly a great continuation of their previous album and its sound and it seems like it genuinely suits Weeekly. What a fun summer track. This one is for the pretty girls who love glitter, summer, and fun!

I’ve grown to be ready for Weeekly to absolutely deliver on the b-sides and this mini album is not an exception for sure. From the upbeat, energetic, and fun Dance Dance Dance to the more emotional, vocal-focused Page (A Story That Reached Me), this new mini album showcases the variety of styles Weeekly can do in a great way. However, my favourite b-side this time around has to be the lovely, nostalgic-sounding Twenties. Such a pretty song worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of wistful, retro-sounding tracks like me!

Weeekly deserve so much more appreciation!
