What happens in The Whirlwind?
Hours before Prime Minister Park Dong-ho (Sul) is arrested on corruption charges, he attempts to assassinate South Korean President Jang Il-jun (Kim Hong-pa). The president has been colluding with a powerful conglomerate called Daejin Group, and Dong-ho hopes the president’s death will bring his misdeeds to light. But the president lives, throwing Dong-ho’s plan into chaos. By President Jang’s side is the steadfast deputy prime minister of economic affairs, Jeong Su-jin (Kim Hee-ae), whose desperation to climb the political ranks obscures her sense of justice. As Dong-ho and Su-jin face off, Dong-ho’s values are tested as he tries to expose his political rivals by any means necessary.
