CIX return for the first time sans Jinyoung with new seventh mini album Thunder Fever and title song Thunder.
Oh my god it has been 100 years since the last CIX comeback and them actually getting a mini album and not just a single. It’s also the first time the boys are coming back without Jinyoung in the group whose absence you can definitely feel especially his vocal tone but honestly good for him for getting out of C9. I would also run. Anyway I am a bit sad we had to start off CIX comeback with a lot of AI usage by C9 which is so lazy and I absolutely hate it. But I will always take new music so let’s get into the review.
I was very, very excited for this comeback and I had a feeling CIX would prove to us yet again why we love them so much on the blog. Thunder is exactly what I expected it to sound like and needed it to sound like. Thunder is the groovy and fun song I love when it comes from CIX and it is giving me some extra special SHINee vibes. I can’t help but be in a good mood immediately after Thunder comes on. The song has the right amount of bounce and groove to it. Seunghun is absolutely carrying the vocal side of things alongside Yonghee. Thunder is also a full length song with a bridge and everything? I am absolutely stunlocked and flabbergasted and also grateful because that’s exactly why I chose CIX as one of my favorite 4th gen groups.
I have to say the mini album opens up with a bang because Bad Moves is an absolute banger. I am not sure why we really needed an OT4 version of Lovers or Enemies but the song is as great as ever. The rest of the songs take a more chill and lowkey route and show us more of CIX amazing vocal talents. I am really glad this comeback delivered as well as I needed it to and the boys sound this great. I definitely am gonna miss Jinyoungs vocal touch on CIX music but all we can do is move on and hope C9 stops mistreating these boys.
