GOT7 Show Us The Python And We Are Here For It

GOT7 return to us after the war and many obstacles to deliver us their album WINTER HEPTAGON and title song Python.

I swear to god Blog is an absolute mess of a company. Anyway, I will not let this keep me from gushing about my men because this is the comeback I have been waiting for all my life for real. It feels like it has been 600 years since the last time we got a GOT7 comeback. I mean JJ Project went to the war and back before we got this long-awaited comeback. I was a bit too excited for it but I haven’t felt this K-Poppy in a while and only SHINee or Got7 get me to feel this way. Alone the concept photos leading up to this comeback had me seated and the music does not disappoint either. Let’s get into it, shall we?

Okay, so Python is everything I needed it to be today because this is the GOT7 I needed and wanted. Yes, Python is a bit more lowkey than I expected it to be. It’s very much on the chill side and groovy but they are being cvnty with it as well and that’s all it took to sell the song for me. Youngjae is bringing the vocals like rent is due tomorrow while Jinyoung’s and Jaebum’s vocals complement each other as per usual Yugyeom is carrying. Jackson, Mark, and Bambam are doing their thing while looking sexy at the same time. Python feels smooth like butter and goes down just as easily. I have the chorus stuck in my head and I just know this is gonna be on my playlist until further notice. I haven’t felt so alive in a long while and I am biased but can only thank GOT7 for this one.

Okay, so I knew immediately that this album was gonna be it. I love it when each of the members take on their own song and style. her immediately spoke to me on the highlight medley because if I love to get my heart broken by someone it’s Jinyoung. The man just knows how to write a song and the full song definitely delivered. I also really enjoy SMOOTH, Darling, TILDA WAVE, and OUT THE DOOR. The boys came to show the new generation why they are so popular and owned it. I am obsessed and have been vibing all day to the music while I work from home. I love these men so much.

This has definitely been our most anticipated comeback not just this month but this year honestly. GOT7 have been through thick and thin together and I feel like these post-JYP comebacks really bring something special with them – a maturity and sound that suits their new path. It’s still not quite typical for a group to push so hard for their rights and their music, so every new release GOT7 drop has an additional layer to it – the layer of freedom and teamwork. The boys have never looked better as well and I’m absolutely ready to see what this new album brings, especially since they always produce their own music and I’m so excited for the b-sides. Let’s review!

Python is rather laid-back, with a special kind of lowkey energy that I’m liking right now. However, I have to say right away that it should be a criminal offense to have a GOT7 title this short because it just feels empty without a proper bridge and the final chorus to really seal the deal. Python is smooth, silky, and very alluring in its melodic approach. I feel like this mature sound and style suits GOT7 a lot – Python seems like the sound we’re used to getting from them on their b-sides, except it gets to shine a bit more as the title this time around. My favourite sections have to be the Jackson x Jinyoung ones as their voices fit so well together – Jackson’s raspy, lower register with Jinyoung’s direct, melodic tone. Python is great on these first few listens and I’ll definitely be coming back to it. I don’t even mind that both of us are incredibly biased when it comes to GOT7 but Python does seem like a nice, solid addition to their amazing discography. Like I said, I do wish that the song was longer with a proper bridge, but I’m interested to see how it will age! The music video is stunning, as per usual when it comes to their darker concepts.

I was also looking forward to the Jinyoung-produced track on the album like Lina, as we always fall in love with his songs. As expected, her is such a stunning b-side and I really admire Jinyoung’s ability to showcase emotions through his producing and lyrics. However, I was also really interested to hear the full version of Out of the Door because it caught my attention right away. It’s such a good track and I’ll be having it on replay for sure. Tidal Wave is another standout track on the album, a song that might have caught me off guard a bit if I’m being honest. It’s so catchy, summery, full of this special nostalgic energy I’m a sucker for. The song is also fully in English which is a nice gift for their international fans and I’m going to be singing along to this absolute bop. GOT7’s b-sides never disappoint, truly.

Happy to have these talented men back doing what they do best – no one comes close!
