JYP’s newest boy group is here with their first mini album Flip It Kick It and title song Mama Said
Well I somehow got one Image block working, look at that. Well, in case Una doesn’t get the other one working we are trying guys. Anyway, this group has had a lot of buzz around them when it comes to their debut. I wasn’t too sure what I should be expecting but JYP definitely know what they are doing right? Well, KickFlip is here today and I have no clue who these kids are I just know that they had a survival show a couple years ago that they are finally debuting after JYP had them literally in the basement but that’s all I know.
I am not sure how I feel about Mama Said. To be honest it is much better than whatever they offered in their pre-releases and I am actually really enjoying the chorus of Mama Said. I like the potential I am hearing here and I also think the song has a lot of growing potential and it is catchy in a way. It is definitely a song of its time though and I can hear why some people might love it or hate it. I am a bit indifferent to Mama Said for now. The song I lowkey wanna talk about the most is See You On Tomorrow because that song is absolutely great and I am really, really enjoying it. I love the groove, the rock punk vibes, and the fast pace. KickFlip are bringing it all here and I’d pick this one as my favorite from the album. This song is just way too good.
Overall, a pretty solid debut to be honest.
Una: I’ve had a long day and unfortunately this isn’t the kind of music that will get me going. Mama Said is cute, with interesting lyrics, but I feel like it needed a lot more melody to seal the deal. I hear the potential here, but I don’t really think this is a song for me currently – I’m not their target audience anyway but I’ll look forward to their future releases.
