SEVENTEEN’s BSS Bring CBZ (Jeans) To Their Teleparty

Seventeen’s BSS drop their second single album Teleparty with the title song CBZ (Jeans).

BSS brought us the happy pill in the form of their Fighting which easily became one of the most beloved cheer-up songs, for me as well. I really love their uplifting concept, trying to bring some happiness and motivation to the listeners, so I was really excited when they announced they would be coming back with their second single album. Their first one didn’t only give us the fun Fighting (I might have lost my voice singing to it live back in September), but also one of my favourite b-sides of that year, 7PM. BSS are back again with another uplifting message, this time in the form of a simple but direct message – youth is now. Let’s review Teleparty and its title track CBZ (Jeans).

CBZ (Jeans) is an utterly fun and uplifting song, which is exactly what we expected from BSS, the happy pill unit. I love the instant boost of energy it brings with both the instrumental, the concept, and the strong vocals BSS bring. I think this is another stellar performance by the unit, utilising their charm to the maximum. CBZ (Jeans) is vibrant, dynamic, and bubbly in its approach and melody, while still trying to portray a meaningful message – youth is now, happiness is now, but how are we going to experience all of that if all we do is worry? I wish I had the answer to that because I am also sometimes completely stuck in my worry and let the joy of present fly by like it’s nothing. CBZ (Jeans) manages to be both goofy and heartwarming through the lyrics, but the music video as well – I think this was their great strength with Fighting, and they are back again with just the perfect amount of energy and silly antics to make you feel better. I think the song has a good hook, and enough melody to make you remember it, but I am interested to see how it ages because I will definitely be going back to it.

From the other songs on this single album, the song I was looking forward the most was definitely Love Song. I knew it would bring the similar feeling and atmosphere which 7PM brought, and I was totally right. Love Song is so melodic, emotional, and warm, truly letting us enjoy in BSS’ gentle, soothing vocals to the maximum. Are we hearing that beautiful instrumental? I love the way the song fades out with exactly that in the spotlight, truly pushing the emotional approach to the front. I knew the lyrics would be sad and melancholic, but I feel like because they come from a gentle, heartbroken perspective, they come across as soothing at times even. A lovely song that I will be playing during these cold days.
