The couple appeared together at the November 3 handprinting ceremony, recalling an emotional embrace and their son’s sweet reaction to their awards.
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin stood side by side at the Blue Dragon Film Awards handprinting ceremony on November 3, returning to a shared career milestone with stories about what happened after the cameras stopped rolling. Their memories included separate celebrations with their film teams, a grateful embrace the following day and a congratulatory message from their young son.
The couple attended the event at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul to commemorate their victories at last year’s 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards. Hyun Bin won Best Actor for “Harbin,” while Son took Best Actress for “No Other Choice,” bringing two leading-performance trophies into the same household on one evening.

Although they shared the excitement of winning at the same ceremony, Son explained that the evening itself was spent with their respective colleagues. Hyun Bin stayed out late celebrating with the “Harbin” team, leaving the couple to properly take in their achievement together the following day.
Son recalled how difficult it was to believe that something they had never imagined had happened to both of them. Once they had a moment together, they embraced and celebrated with gratitude, recognizing just how extraordinary the experience had been for their family.
Their son joined the celebrations in his own way. Hyun Bin explained that it was too late for him to see the trophies on awards night, but he looked at them the next day, asked whether they were awards and congratulated his parents.
The story offered a glimpse of how a major public achievement became a family memory, with their child discovering the trophies after the excitement of the ceremony had passed.
Hyun Bin remembers the nerves of his first Best Actor win
For Hyun Bin, returning to the handprinting event brought back the intensity of receiving his first Blue Dragon Best Actor award. He said that sitting in the waiting room made him realize nearly a year had already passed, while memories of the winning moment returned with a fresh sense of excitement.
He was considerably calmer at the November 3 gathering, joking about how fiercely his heart had been beating on the night he won. The award recognized his performance as Korean independence activist Ahn Jung-geun in “Harbin,” a role that explored both the character’s resolve and the human burden of his decisions.
Looking ahead, Hyun Bin said the experience had strengthened his desire to work on more films and, one day, hold the award again. His reflections connected the happiness of the occasion with a renewed ambition to keep building his film career.

Son’s Best Actress victory carried a different sense of time. She had previously won the category for “My Wife Got Married,” and her performance as Mi-ri in “No Other Choice” brought her a second trophy 17 years later.
She recalled that, when she began acting, two of her early dreams were to become an actor who no longer needed to audition and to win the Blue Dragon Best Actress award. Receiving it again after such a long interval felt dreamlike, with the added significance of celebrating alongside her husband.
Son described the double success as a major happy occasion for their household, wondering whether they would ever experience anything quite like it again. She also spoke about the pride and encouragement that recognition had given her, expressing a desire to make more good films and continue creating her own history as an actor.
A shared milestone preserved in handprints
The November 3 event allowed the couple to leave a lasting physical reminder of their achievements, posing with their completed handprints after revisiting the emotions behind the awards. Fellow previous-year winners Lee Sung-min, Park Ji-hyun, Ahn Bo-hyun and Kim Do-yeon also attended.
The gathering precedes the 47th Blue Dragon Film Awards, scheduled for November 25 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. For Hyun Bin and Son, it offered a moment to look back together before another group of actors experiences the anticipation they remembered so vividly.
Editor’s Note: International audiences also know Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin as the leads of “Crash Landing on You.” Netflix’s original announcement introduced them as a North Korean military officer and a South Korean businesswoman brought together by a paragliding accident. Their latest appearance celebrates separate film performances, adding another shared milestone to careers that have also intersected on screen.
