Kim Soo Hyun Confirms Aaa 2026 Attendance In Major Awards Show Return

The actor will attend the two-day ceremony in Kaohsiung alongside an international lineup, but his appearance does not yet confirm that he will receive an award.

Kim Soo Hyun has confirmed another major step in his return to public activities.

The actor will attend the 2026 Asia Artist Awards, scheduled for December 5 and 6 at Kaohsiung National Stadium in Taiwan. The organizing committee announced his participation alongside Japanese star Michieda Shunsuke and Korean actors Park Ji-hwan, Eum Moon-suk and Heo Sung-tae.

His inclusion immediately attracted attention because AAA 2026 will bring Kim back to an international awards ceremony where he previously enjoyed one of the biggest nights of his career.

It also places him among a large gathering of current K-drama stars, including Kim Seon-ho, Go Youn-jung, Kim Yoo-jung, Byeon Woo-seok, Kim Hye-yoon, Ahn Hyo-seop, Choo Young-woo, Hyeri and Park Ji-hoon.

Kim Soo Hyun’s relationship with AAA is already significant.

At AAA 2024 in Bangkok, he received four awards, including the Grand Prize for Artist of the Year in the actor category. He was also honored with the Best Artist, Fabulous and Hot Trend awards following the international success of tvN’s Queen of Tears.

The drama became one of the defining Korean television releases of 2024, with Kim starring as Baek Hyun-woo opposite Kim Ji-won’s Hong Hae-in. Their portrayal of a married couple attempting to rebuild a fractured relationship earned both actors widespread praise and expanded Kim’s already substantial international fan base.

During his Grand Prize speech, Kim shared the honor with the cast and production team, while specifically thanking Kim Ji-won for bringing Hong Hae-in to life.

His return to AAA two years later is therefore more meaningful than an ordinary red carpet appearance. It brings him back to the ceremony that recognized the most recent major drama performance of his career.

AAA has confirmed Kim Soo Hyun as an attendee, but it has not announced him as a winner or disclosed the complete results for its 2026 awards.

Kim’s history with AAA makes him a credible contender for recognition, but any reports claiming that he has already secured an award would be premature.

The Kaohsiung appearance follows Kim’s gradual return to entertainment activities after spending approximately a year away from the public spotlight.

He recently resumed social media activity and participated in an advertising campaign for a Philippine fashion brand. His agency, Gold Medalist, also won the first trial of a contract dispute involving watchmaker Mido on August 27.

The Seoul Eastern District Court rejected Mido’s request for the return of approximately 570 million won in advertising fees, finding that the asserted grounds for terminating the contract had not been established. That ruling concerns one civil case at the first-instance level. Other disputes involving advertisers remain ongoing and should be treated separately.

Kim also received a police decision not to forward a case involving alleged violations of South Korea’s Child Welfare Act for prosecution.

AAA 2026 does not erase the controversy or settle every remaining legal dispute. It does, however, demonstrate that Kim’s return is expanding beyond advertising and social media into large public entertainment events.

Standing before fans at a major stadium ceremony will be a much more visible moment than releasing a photograph or appearing in a commercial.

A Truly International Actor Lineup

Kim will be joined by Michieda Shunsuke, a member of Japanese boy group Naniwa Danshi who has also built a growing acting career.

The newly announced lineup also includes Park Ji-hwan, widely recognized for his scene-stealing performances in The Roundup film franchise; Eum Moon-suk, who recently appeared in Taxi Driver 3; and Heo Sung-tae, whose role as Jang Deok-su in Squid Game introduced him to a global audience.

Their participation reflects AAA’s identity as an event that does not separate actors from the wider Asian pop culture landscape.

The ceremony will be hosted by IVE’s Jang Wonyoung, actor Ji Chang-wook and ZEROBASEONE’s Sung Hanbin. One additional host is expected to be revealed later.

Its music lineup includes major performers such as TXT, ATEEZ, RIIZE, MONSTA X, ITZY, NMIXX, ZEROBASEONE, KISS OF LIFE, Hearts2Hearts, TWS, tripleS and KiiiKiii.

AAA has increasingly positioned itself as a traveling celebration of Asian entertainment rather than an awards show held exclusively in South Korea.

Taking the 2026 ceremony to Kaohsiung gives international fans direct access to a lineup spanning Korean dramas, K-pop and Japanese entertainment. Hosting the event across two days also suggests a larger festival-style format, although individual appearance dates and the complete schedule have not yet been released.

For Kim Soo Hyun’s fans, the most important confirmed detail is simple: he will be there.
