SEVENTEEN’s Joshua is heading to the UNESCO stage, where he will deliver a message for young people around the world as part of the group’s ongoing global youth initiative.

Pledis Entertainment announced on June 16 that Joshua will attend a special ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, on June 25 local time as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth.

The event, titled “UNESCO X SEVENTEEN: Celebrating Youth, Creativity and Well-Being Together,” will highlight the global youth support program “Going Together,” which SEVENTEEN and UNESCO have promoted together.

Joshua to Represent SEVENTEEN at UNESCO

Joshua will take the podium on behalf of SEVENTEEN and deliver a message directly aimed at young people.

During the ceremony, he is also expected to announce an expanded support project connected to youth development. The event will be attended by UNESCO figures, including Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of UNESCO.

Joshua’s appearance is drawing attention because it places a K-pop artist at the center of a global cultural and educational platform. Rather than focusing only on performance or music, the event will spotlight youth creativity, well-being, and international solidarity.

SEVENTEEN’s Ongoing Youth Support Efforts

SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop act to be named an official UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in 2024.

At the time, the group donated $1 million to establish a global youth fund. The fund has supported young people around the world in areas such as music, arts, sports, and creative activities.

The group has continued its support through the “Going Together” campaign, which focuses on encouraging young people to pursue their dreams and build connections across borders.

SEVENTEEN also donated proceeds from a charity auction held around last year’s International Youth Day, helping provide deeper support to selected youth groups connected to the campaign.

‘Going Together’ Expands Its Impact

The upcoming UNESCO ceremony will serve as a moment to celebrate the progress of the “Going Together” program.

Among the 100 youth groups that have participated in the project, 10 teams received additional support last year. The new announcement is expected to build on that effort and expand the program’s reach.

For SEVENTEEN, the initiative reflects a long-running message that has often appeared in the group’s music and public activities: growth, teamwork, and the belief that young people can move forward together.

A Global Moment for SEVENTEEN and CARATs

Joshua’s UNESCO appearance is expected to be meaningful not only for SEVENTEEN’s fans, but also for the wider K-pop industry.

As K-pop artists continue to expand their influence beyond music charts and concerts, SEVENTEEN’s partnership with UNESCO shows how idol groups can participate in global conversations about education, creativity, and youth empowerment.

The ceremony will take place at the main hall of UNESCO headquarters in Paris on June 25 at 5 p.m. KST.

Fans around the world will be able to watch the event through UNESCO’s official YouTube channel, where it will be livestreamed.
