Three Men, Three Ambitions: Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung And Woo Do-hwan Face Off Again In ‘made In Korea 2’

They are standing in the same frame.

They are not fighting for the same thing. Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung and Woo Do-hwan reunited for ELLE Korea’s September issue ahead of Disney+ original series Made in Korea Season 2, creating a photoshoot built around the tension between three men whose ambitions are pulling them in very different directions. The images are stylish, but they also work almost like an early preview of the drama.

Season 2 jumps nine years forward from the first season and finds each character fundamentally changed by time, power and survival.

Hyun Bin’s Baek Ki-tae finally has power and wants even more

Hyun Bin returns as Baek Ki-tae, who is now much closer to the top of the political power structure.

According to Hyun Bin, gaining power has made the character more aggressive and decisive. Even small details how he speaks, walks and wears his clothes were adjusted to show how much Ki-tae has changed over nine years.

For the actor, the role has also become unusually personal.

“I’ve never held onto one character for this long.”

Hyun Bin said his feelings toward Baek Ki-tae are different from those he has experienced with previous roles.

That makes Season 2 less like returning to an old character and more like discovering what happens after someone finally gets what he once wanted. And that may be dangerous.

Jung Woo-sung’s Jang Geon-young is no longer simply chasing him

Jung Woo-sung returns as Jang Geon-young, who spent the nine-year gap enduring hardship and preparing to strike back.

He described the character as harder and more offensive than before but also suggested the conflict between Geon-young and Ki-tae is bigger than a simple hero-versus-villain rivalry.

To Jung Woo-sung, both men are ultimately small figures being swept along by the era around them. He explained that Made in Korea asks a larger question: Does achieving the value you pursued automatically make that value right?

That idea appears central to the new season. The series is not only asking who will win the fight for power. It is asking what winning actually turns them into.

Woo Do-hwan may be the most unpredictable person in the middle

Then there is Baek Ki-hyun, played by Woo Do-hwan.

Ki-hyun is Ki-tae’s younger brother, but Season 2 places him directly between his brother and Jang Geon-young.

After nine years, he has risen to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the security command and carries much greater responsibility. Woo said Ki-hyun likely realized that if he wanted to protect his family, he would also need to build power of his own.

That makes him more than a supporting figure in the conflict. The teasers have already shown Geon-young pressuring Ki-hyun to choose a side, while the relationship between the two brothers appears increasingly fractured.

Season 2 may therefore hinge less on whether Ki-tae or Geon-young wins and more on what Ki-hyun decides to do.

Woo Do-hwan says he watched his senior actors closely

The ELLE interview also revealed how Woo approached working alongside Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung.

He said he closely observed how both senior actors approached acting and life, as well as how openly they responded to the director’s guidance.

For Woo Do-hwan, the experience seems to have become a lesson in longevity.

He said watching them made him want to remain the kind of actor who can still take part in strong projects 10 or 20 years from now.

That dynamic gives the three-person shoot another layer. On screen, their characters are watching each other for weakness. Off screen, Woo Do-hwan was watching his co-stars to learn.

Season 2 begins September 9

Made in Korea Season 2 will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on September 9.

The six-episode season will release in pairs: two episodes on September 9, two on September 16 and the final two on September 23. Director Woo Min-ho also returns after leading Season 1, with Seo Eun-soo, Won Ji-an, Jung Sung-il and Noh Jae-won among the returning cast.

The new season begins nine years after Ki-tae’s previous rise and pushes all three central men toward an increasingly direct confrontation. The ELLE photos may show them standing quietly together. The drama almost certainly will not.
