The actress declined the proposed drama after reviewing its script, according to a Korean report.

Moon Ga-young will not be reuniting with her True Beauty co-star Cha Eun-woo in Seorabeol Knife, according to an exclusive report from Hankyung.

The outlet reported on October 19 that Moon had reviewed an offer to appear in the drama before ultimately declining. The report did not disclose a reason for her decision.

A potential ‘True Beauty’ reunion falls through

The casting proposal had attracted attention because Moon and Cha previously starred together in True Beauty, which began airing in 2020.

With Seorabeol Knife targeting a 2027 broadcast, the project could have brought the actors back together roughly seven years after their first drama pairing. Moon’s reported decision means that reunion will not happen through this production.

Her departure concerns a role she was considering, rather than a confirmed casting commitment.

A time-travel romance with a culinary twist

Seorabeol Knife combines cooking and time travel in a story involving an Italian chef and a princess destined to become a leading figure in Seorabeol.

The drama is a new project from director Jang Tae-yoo, whose work includes Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. Its culinary premise places food at the center of another romance crossing very different worlds.

The report also described the project as a potential comeback vehicle for Cha following his military service. However, it did not include a new statement confirming his casting.

Seorabeol Knife is aiming to air in 2027. The report did not name a replacement for Moon or specify a premiere date.

Editor’s Note

True Beauty paired Moon Ga-young’s Lim Ju-gyeong with Cha Eun-woo’s Lee Su-ho in a school romance about appearance, insecurity and self-acceptance. The series also starred Hwang In-youp as Han Seo-jun. That earlier pairing explains the interest in a possible reunion, although an offer to review a script does not mean an actor has committed to a production.
