Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young face shifting loyalties in Disney+’s upcoming fantasy romance.
An empress’s carefully maintained composure begins to crack in newly released images from The Remarried Empress.
The Disney+ series unveiled character stills on October 19, introducing the four figures whose competing desires threaten to reshape an empire. Shin Min-a leads the cast as Empress Navier, alongside Ju Ji-hoon as Emperor Sovieshu, Lee Jong-suk as Prince Heinrey and Lee Se-young as Rashta.
The 10-episode series premieres on November 4.

Navier’s contrasting expressions give the new images their emotional center.
In one moment, she wears an elegant smile befitting the Eastern Empire’s respected empress. In another, her expression tightens as she encounters Rashta, the woman whose arrival disrupts her marriage and position at court.
The contrast introduces a character accustomed to maintaining control, now confronting a deeply personal crisis in a setting where private relationships carry political consequences.
When Sovieshu demands a divorce, Navier agrees on one condition: permission to marry Prince Heinrey of the rival Western Kingdom.
That decision turns the end of her marriage into the beginning of a new struggle over her future.
Ju Ji-hoon’s emperor reveals conflicting sides
Sovieshu appears distant beside Navier, reflecting the growing divide between them.
Other images present his public authority, including a horseback hunting scene, while a solitary moment suggests the uncertainty beneath his commanding exterior.
His attachment to Rashta, a woman who escaped enslavement, sets the central conflict in motion. The consequences extend beyond the imperial marriage to the balance of power around it.

Lee Jong-suk’s Heinrey enters the story with relaxed confidence and a smile that reveals little about his intentions.
As a prince from another kingdom and Navier’s prospective new husband, his presence creates both a romantic possibility and a political complication.
Rashta, meanwhile, faces a dramatic change in circumstances after gaining the emperor’s favor. Lee Se-young’s stills suggest excitement at her new surroundings alongside an emerging determination to secure her place.
The four characters approach the same crisis from very different positions: an empress protecting her future, an emperor pursuing his desires, a prince whose intentions remain difficult to read and a newcomer discovering the possibilities of palace life.
A fantasy court brought to the screen
Directed by Jo Soo-won and written by Yeo Ji-na, The Remarried Empress adapts the popular story into a live-action fantasy romance.
Its elaborate court setting provides the backdrop for a story in which affection, status and political calculation are closely connected. Navier’s response to betrayal drives the drama, making her next choice as consequential as the emperor’s demand for divorce.
Editor’s Note
The Remarried Empress originated as a story by Alphatart and also became a WEBTOON adaptation, with art by SUMPUL and adaptation by HereLee. The official English comic introduces Navier as an accomplished ruler whose husband’s demand for divorce prompts her to seek approval for remarriage. Disney+ preserves that central premise, placing her decision to determine her own future at the heart of the screen adaptation.
